Lubin - Zenith

The latest EP from Chicago’s Lubin. “Frame Technology” leads with dusty drums (reminiscent of C2’s remix of R&S “Poor People Must Work”) paired with tense, deep atmospherics that heighten the drama as the track raises, and partially releases, the tension. “Forever it was (Edie)” gives us more dusty drums, but this time exchanging tension for deep sunrise vibes and a funkier bassline for ass-shaking.  The EP’s “Magenta Finale” takes us on to a subterranean techno zone with harder, darker drums.

Yet another stellar EP from the buy-on-sight Kimochi label and a worthy addition to Lubin’s short but so far impeccable discography.
